Ubiant solution, an open and scalable, Ready2Services solution
In order to meet goals of flexibility, scalability, interoperability, ease of installation and protection of users’ private data, Ubiant solution is compliant with the SBA’s (Smart Building Alliance) Ready2Services architecture. Ubiant solution relies on different hardware infrastructures and ecosystems of compatible, interoperable connected objects, in particular the Quickmove object repository initiated by Ubiant.
The cloud and services – where building-related data circulates, and where it can be made available for the emergence of cross-functional services.
The building infrastructure (or the building network tier) – described in terms of zones that are interconnected via native IP to allow devices to communicate, irrespective of their origin.
The hardware (or hardware ecosystems) – whether it be sensors, actuators, controllers, or systems such as HVAC, lighting, etc. This equipment must be able to communicate with the next tier up, i.e. that of the building network.
An architecture to develop smart buildings
The purpose of the Smart Building Alliance is to define the prerequisites so that a building can interact with its environment and generate services. In view of the future development of smart grids and/or smart cities, each building will have a role to play. In fact, all buildings can become smart buildings, whether they be residential, commercial or collective.
Most of today’s solutions for making a building connected are not interoperable. Nothing is pooled; each time a builder makes a new request, a solution must be reinvented, which does little to facilitate the project owner’s task. We thus need to federate all of the players within the sectors concerned to help make up for this lack of pooling.
This situation spawned an association between the Smart Building Alliance and Certivéa to offer the building sector’s professionals a label that recognizes the connected building’s value, and which supports its subsequent development thanks to an open, scalable solution. For this purpose, professionals can rely on the Ready2Services reference system, created by the SBA. The goal is for buildings to interact with their environment, so that they become a genuine platform of services for users. The data produced by the building must be accessible to its users (occupants and operators) both inside and outside the building.
